Whole30 – Days 4 & 5

These two days on the Whole30 were a little worse than previous days.

Whole30 – Day 4

I had a headache start on Day 3, and it continued into Day 4 of the Whole30. I had to take a nice long nap (close to 3 hours) and didn’t feel like I accomplished much.

But I did make it through school time without any meltdowns (from me).

I’m beginning to wonder if I am going to turn into an egg. I have had scrambled eggs for breakfast every day. And then I’ve also had hard-boiled eggs a few days. I am allergic to nuts, so my extra protein options are limited. And I have texture issues with fish, so my protein options are chicken, egg, and beef (limited).

It was still hard to watch the boys eating chocolate for snack. I’m missing chocolate the most. And I’m frustrated (but happy) that my husband doesn’t seem to be having any issues at all.

I’m so grateful that I have boys that know how to cook. They made me breakfast and lunch. Start training them early!! It might take a little extra time, but you won’t regret it.

Whole30 – Day 5

Headache is still here. I feel like a Mack truck hit me. It hurts everywhere. I am a little on edge. The Whole30 book mentioned this might happen. I wasn’t quite prepared for it to be this bad. I really didn’t feel like doing anything. I still was able to complete school with the boys, but then had to take a nap (this time it was almost 5 hours)!!

Once again the boys made breakfast and lunch. Thank you boys!!

I didn’t really want to get out of bed to have supper, but my body was aching from laying so long.

Boring

I definitely need to finish reading the book and reviewing all the recipes. We haven’t scheduled meals often, so it is a big change to have to think about what to cook and how much. With 3 growing boys, it is difficult to have leftovers sometimes. We are supplementing them with beans and rice to make the food go further. Note: beans and rice are NOT allowed on the Whole30 diet. But grilled chicken is getting a little boring, as well as scrambled eggs. Fred did cook tuna for supper, and I did try a little, but still don’t care for the taste of fish (or texture).

Chocolate?

Can I have chocolate yet? That seems to be the biggest item I miss right now. The Whole30 book says the “sugar dragon” will get better. I sure hope so! I want chocolate!! That’s my go to when I don’t feel good. I’m sure a lot of this is withdrawal from sugar.

After all the reading, I still feel the Whole30 program is the best for me. I want to heal my gut, so I will continue on. I am trying to be honest with how I am feeling to help anyone else out there that may be going through the same thing.

I don’t like taking medicine, but I may finally breakdown and take some ibuprofen tonight to sleep a little better. And hopefully this part will be over quickly and I will be feeling much better.

Here’s to another day on the Whole 30.

Kim.
