“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16, NIV
When Richard was on a road trip with his young grandchildren, he wanted to share the story of Jesus with them. But he struggled to explain the concept of Jesus as Savior. Then a song on the radio inspired him.
He asked his grandsons what type of superhero they’d like to be and the kind of superpowers they’d like to have. He listened to his grandsons’ answers then suggested situations where people were in jeopardy.
Each boy shared how he’d use his power to rescue the lost, hurting, weak, and vulnerable. Now that Richard had their attention, he began talking about Jesus. He explained how God sent His Son to earth to rescue and redeem all of humankind.
Sharing Biblical truths with children is important. But it can also be challenging to know how to explain concepts that kids may not be familiar with. When that happens, try to think of a way that you can illustrate a spiritual truth with a cartoon, book, or movie character.
Prayer:
Lord, please give me wisdom. I want to share Your truths with little ones. Give me the grace to see life through their eyes. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
