but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. – Isaiah 40:31
This is one of my favorite verses. It provides hope and peace. No matter what troubles we have in this world, there will be a time when all will change. We will no longer suffer.
We don’t have a regular devotional today. Instead, I want you to take the time to remember your family and friends.
Have you lost a loved one? Today is the anniversary of my mother-in-law’s death. She’s been gone for eight years now. I still miss her dearly.
She battled Parkinson’s Disease for many years, and it finally robbed her of her strength and her ability to walk without assistance. But I know that now she is up in heaven with a new body, probably square dancing.
She lived a full life, had 14 children (yes 14!), and many grandchildren. She was tiny in stature but mighty in strength and endurance. She suffered many things over the years but never lost her faith. I’m truly blessed to have had her as my mother-in-law.
Today, take the time to let your family know how much you love them and how much they mean to you. You never know how much time you have left on this earth. Treat each day as a blessing.
Lord, thank you for the beauty of your Word. It provides comfort and hope during our trials. Although we suffer in this life, You will renew our strength, and we will no longer be weary or faint. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
