Today’s Verse
He said, “Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” – Daniel 10:11, NIV
Logan grew up in a religious household. He went to church every week and attended a private Christian school. He excelled in Bible trivia and could even recite a few verses. But Logan didn’t know God.
“Growing up, I got the impression that God loved me but He didn’t really like me,” Logan says.
It was an impression that stayed with Logan and dictated many of his life choices. He went to the “right” college and married the “right” woman. He was constantly worried about impressing God.
During a men’s group meeting one night, the leader opted for the class to study the book of Daniel. As Logan read about Daniel’s encounter with the angel, something clicked.
“In this passage, the phrase ‘highly esteemed’ also means ‘precious’ or ‘greatly loved,’” the leader explained.
For the first time, Logan began to understand God’s, great love. “It was like being given sight after blindness. I realized that God loves me and He doesn’t need me to complete some special checklist. He loves me right where I am and that knowledge is transforming me daily.”
Prayer
God, when I’m tempted to work for your favor or approval, send reminders that You love me. I want to stop striving and just rest in Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
