“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without
finding fault, and it will be given to you.” – James 1:5
Devotional About Giving – Day 30
Hannah was a senior in high school. She had good grades and was accepted into several colleges. They were all excellent schools, and she knew she’d be happy at any of them. But she didn’t know which one to choose.
When she asked her dad for advice, he said the same thing he always said. “Ask God for wisdom, pumpkin.”
Hannah sighed but sent up a prayer. “God, I could use some help making this decision. Wisdom would definitely make this easier!”
Then Hannah waited. A few weeks went by with seemingly no answer. Each day Hannah felt more anxious. Where should she go? Did God not hear her prayers for help?
Hannah was with her mom, shopping for groceries when an old family friend greeted them. Her mom introduced the woman as her best friend from elementary school. As the two women talked, the topic of college came up.
Her mom’s best friend mentioned she had attended the college that Hannah liked and told her about her experience there. As she talked, her mom’s friend spoke such vivid stories that Hannah knew that’s where she was meant to go.
Like Hannah, you may be wondering what your next step should be. Ask God for wisdom to guide you during this time.
God, I need wisdom. I have to choose between different paths, and I’m not sure what to do. Please show me what direction I should go.
