Love Abroad

“Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” – 1 John 4:11, NIV

Barb had a heart for Christians facing persecution. She felt called to go to the Middle East and share her faith there. She was looking forward to the trip, and she already had everything prepared.

Then a week before she was to leave, Barb’s husband suffered a massive stroke. He could no longer communicate or care for himself. He was as helpless as an infant, relying on his wife to do everything.

Barb never left his side. She put her missionary plans on hold and trusted that God would bring her there in His timing.

As the years passed, Barb continued to care for her husband. She still felt the pull of missions, but there was no one to care for her husband since his family had passed away long ago.

Then one day, Barb heard about Global Media Outreach, a Christian organization that equips volunteers to be digital disciples.

She quickly signed up. Now she spends a few hours every week talking about Jesus with those who are living in Middle Eastern countries. She loves that she can reach out while still being able to care for her husband.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to remember that there are many ways to serve You. Let the Great Commission always be on my heart, no matter which season of life I’m walking through. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
